RAF SPRINT ORIENTEERING CHAMPIONSHIPS – RAF HONINGTON – 17 MAR 101. The RAF Sprint Orienteering Championships will take place at RAF Honington on Wed 17 Mar 10 and will consist of the following courses: a. Men’s Sprint race. b. Ladies Sprint race. c. Relay race. 
Please note that SportIdent Punching will be used for this event. 2. Location and Directions. The event centre will be the RAF Honington, see Annex B for directions. Units travelling before the event day are requested to arrange their own accommodation requirements. 3. Courses. The courses will be planned in accordance with the Sprint-O standard and will comprise of the following distances (to be confirmed): a. Men’s – 3.2 Km. b. Ladies – 2.2 Km. c. Relay – short leg 1.5 Km, medium leg 2.0 KM, long leg 2.5 Km. 4. Timings. Registration commences at 0930. a. Individual. First start will be 1000 last start 1145. The courses will close at 1215. All competitors are to report to the finish no later than the course closure time. b. Relay. Start will be 1400. The courses will close at 1530. All competitors are to report to the finish no later than the course closure time. 5. Terrain and Equipment. The terrain is flat and fast. Full body cover is not required. There will be a significant amount of hard surface; long spikes are inadvisable. The map is 1:3,500 and the courses will be pre-printed and laminated. Control descriptions will be issued in the start lane. 6. Facilities. Toilets and showers will be available in the Gymnasium. Accommodation is not available at RAF Honington, but it may be possible to arrange for camping facilities to be made available. Please contact Flt Lt Mick Liston for further details. 7. Team Registration. Teams are asked to complete the registration form at Annex A, which must be returned by COP 12 Mar 10. This has been emailed to all RAFO members and PEd Flts. 8. Refreshments. There are two cafes within minutes of the start/finish area. 9. Travel. Cost of travel is approved in accordance with JSP 752, Ch 4 Sect 8 and all warrants and claims are to quote RAF Sports Board Letter DSB(RAF)/299000/24/3/168 dated 08 Dec 09 as the authority, final approval for travel funding rests with the Stn Cdr and that overall cost must remain with the Unit T&S budget; therefore early notification to Unit P Ed Os is essential. When two or more members are travelling from the same unit by car, then cars must be shared to the maximum possible. Subsistence allowance is not admissible 10. Officials.
